Hawki (Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa) is designed to provide low-cost or free health insurance coverage for children under the age of 19 in families that meet specific income guidelines. This program ensures that children who are not eligible for Medicaid but whose families may not be able to afford traditional health insurance can still access essential medical care.
The coverage includes a wide range of services such as:
Doctor visits
Prescription medications
Hospital care
Vision and dental care
Mental health services
Emergency services
Eligibility for Hawki is based on household size and income. Families who qualify may pay little to no premium, depending on their income level. Families with higher incomes may be required to pay a small monthly premium for coverage.
