April 16, 2026: Seven West Burlington Jr. High band members participated in Solo & Ensemble Festival this evening at Aldo Leopold Intermediate School. Each of them prepared a solo, spending countless hours practicing which culminated in a performance for adjudication.

It is the junior high’s first time in over five years that they have participated in Solo & Ensemble, and these gentlemen have represented the Falcon Bands superbly well! Six students, Cian A, Quinten C, Raj G, Asher G, Nartel J, and Sam R received a 1, “Superior”, rating on their solos! In addition, Nick S received a 1+, “Outstanding”, rating on his solo! A big congratulations to all of our Solo & Ensemble participants!

April 11, 2026: It’s been a fantastic day for these Falcon band members at the Mt. Pleasant Jr. High Honor Band! Congratulations to Cian A, Bliss B, Olivia C, Dayton C, Quinten C, Raj G, Asher G, Kylee G, Madison M, Sam R, Nick S, and Emmy Y on their outstanding achievement! Bravo one and all!

March 27, 2026: Yesterday, 16 Falcon Band members traveled to Highland High School for the 2026 Southeast Iowa Superconference Honor Band. The students joined band members from nearly a dozen other high schools from our region to put on a sensational concert in just a single day of rehearsal. Congratulations to Elvis, Cameron, Garrett, TJ, Derrik, DeMontrae, Ellie, Rhea, Elizabeth, Kirsten, Joseph, Samuel, Wyatt, Will, Gracin, and Draven on a fantastic performance last night!

March 13, 2026: Congratulations to West Burlington sophomore Joseph Murphy on his acceptance into the 2026 1A/2A Iowa All-State Jazz Band! Joseph submitted a recorded audition against hundreds of other high school jazz musicians across the entire state. The auditions were then judged by professional jazz musicians from all around Iowa who were responsible for whittling the numbers down to 20 elite musicians who will comprise the All-State Jazz Band. Joseph is one of only two tenor saxophones from across the entire state to be selected for what is considered the highest honor for Iowa high school jazz musicians. He is also the first West Burlington musician in 18 years to receive All-State honors. He will perform with the 1A/2A Iowa All-State Jazz Band in Des Moines at the Iowa Bandmasters Association Conference in May. Congratulations once again, Joseph!

March 7, 2026: Congratulations to Falcon Jazz on a fantastic performance at the SEIBA Jazz Festival at Washington HS this afternoon! You have put in tremendous work, and I couldn’t be more proud of your performance today. An extra big congratulations to Joseph M and Garrett P who were both recognized as outstanding soloists! Their leadership and musicality makes a huge impact in our ensemble, and they fully deserve this recognition! Falcon Jazz, thank you once again for putting on a great show. I had a lot of fun sharing the stage with all of you today!

Feb 2026: What an outstanding performance from our eight Falcon band members at the WIU Honor Band this afternoon! Congratulations to Will B, Elizabeth C, Gracin D, DeMontrae H, Ellie M, Joseph M, Garrett P, and Samuel Y on their sensational musicality they have displayed this weekend!

January 2026: While temperatures were frigid outside, the music these students created was more than enough to warm the soul. Congratulations to Asher Glasgow, Samuel Reckling, Joseph Murphy, and Samuel Yonker on their sensational performances at the 2026 SEIBA Honor Band Festival!! They have done West Burlington proud!
