Superintendent's Message for October 2023

When I was offered the opportunity to lead this district in the late spring of 2019, I committed to the Board of Education that I would serve for at least four years and maybe five. At the conclusion of this school year, I will have completed my 5th year as the district’s superintendent.

This consideration of transition has been a discussion with the board throughout the past several years.  During those discussions I had committed that I would inform the Board in the fall of the year in which I had made a final decision about retirement. Our current board president and vice president have been aware of this decision since early summer.

You will find in the board packet for Monday evening, my resignation effective at the end of this school year. Announcing this now provides our board the greatest ability to establish the parameters and conduct a search that positions the district to attain the best pool possible with adequate time for transitionary activities to occur between the new superintendent and myself.

For me, at this time, I desire to find a greater balance between the work I love called education and my ability to spend more time being present with my husband, our children and our grandchildren. Rightfully so, the superintendency does not and should not afford this.

During our Back-to-School opening with our staff, we spent time reflecting on and discussing change. Our work was, in part, around the concepts that change is one of our only constants in life, that it has consistent patterns or life cycles and that it is often not the change itself but rather the unknown that brings us concern.  Please know that I commit to work tirelessly to support and position the district as best possible to ensure a strong bridge and smooth transition from our today to your tomorrow. Thank you for your support.

I will always consider this opportunity to serve as your superintendent one of the greatest honors of my life.  This community, our students and our staff make it a truly special place. I thank everyone for allowing me to be a part of it.

Always a Falcon

Lisa
